Rotary Valve Dimensions and Measurement Checklist

Use this checklist to record installation dimensions for a new rotary airlock or a replacement valve. This page explains what to measure; it is not a model-by-model catalogue of numerical dimensions.

Prepare a dimension sheet for your installation

Model-specific dimensions must be confirmed on an approved project drawing. A nominal inlet size or an existing model number alone does not establish that a replacement will fit.

Record measurements consistently

  • State the units on your sketch and identify the inlet and outlet.
  • Record each flange separately: opening, outside dimensions, hole count, hole diameter and bolt centres.
  • Mark the mounting faces used for the face-to-face height measurement.
  • Show the drive side, shaft projection and available maintenance space.

Send supporting information

  • A dimensioned sketch or existing installation drawing.
  • Overall and flange photos, plus the existing nameplate if replacing a valve.
  • Any dimensions that cannot yet be verified, clearly marked as unconfirmed.
  • Material, capacity, temperature and pressure conditions for the selection review.

Do not measure or access moving machinery. Follow the site isolation procedure and use qualified personnel for on-site checks.

DIMENSION REVIEW

Dimensions to confirm before manufacture

There is no universal rotary airlock dimension table: body series, capacity, pressure duty, drive and flange standard all change the installation envelope. Use this checklist to compare a new valve with the available space or an existing unit.

ReferenceDimensionWhat to record
AInlet openingRound diameter or rectangular width × length, plus clear opening.
BOutlet openingShape, size and orientation; do not assume it matches the inlet.
CFlange patternOutside size, hole count, hole diameter, pitch circle or centre distances.
HFace-to-face heightDistance between inlet and outlet mounting faces.
LOverall body lengthInclude end covers, bearings, seals and any shaft projection.
DDrive envelopeGearmotor length, height, orientation and space for removal.
MMaintenance clearanceSpace required to remove the rotor, end cover, seal or drive.
Replacement projects

Send a nameplate photo, overall photos and measured interfaces. A final approved drawing should govern manufacture; nominal valve size alone is not sufficient.

APPLICATION NOTES

Check fit and operating requirements together

The main design objective is comparing envelope and flange dimensions during layout or replacement work. Confirm inlet size, outlet size, shaft height, overall length and drive clearance before fixing the valve size, rotor and drive arrangement.

Treat published dimensions as a selection reference and confirm the project drawing before fabrication. Sercan reviews these details against capacity, installation interface and maintenance access before issuing a project drawing.

TECHNICAL FAQ

Questions before selection

Are rotary airlock valve dimensions standardized?

Nominal flange sizes may follow a project or regional standard, but overall height, shaft arrangement, bolt pattern and drive envelope vary by manufacturer and duty.

Which dimensions are essential for a replacement valve?

Confirm inlet and outlet openings, flange outside dimensions, bolt pattern, face-to-face height, shaft or drive orientation and the available maintenance space.

Can an existing model number replace measured dimensions?

A model number helps identify the unit, but an approved interface drawing or verified measurements are still recommended before manufacture.
